Shikha Mishra
Founder & CEO, Maheshwari Moments (Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh)
Shikha Mishra, also known as Shikha Maheshwari, is the founder of Maheshwari Moments, a purpose-driven brand dedicated to reviving the 300-year-old Black Pottery tradition of Nizamabad, Azamgarh. Founded in 2017, the brand specialises in handcrafted products made from 100% natural terracotta and black clay, celebrating India’s timeless craft heritage while presenting it to a modern, global audience.
What began as a deep commitment to preserving local art forms soon evolved into a larger mission. Shikha works closely with local artisans—especially women—helping transform traditional skills into sustainable livelihoods. By staying true to age-old techniques and avoiding chemicals or industrial shortcuts, Maheshwari Moments honours the raw purity of the earth and the patience behind every handcrafted piece.
Today, under her leadership, Maheshwari Moments has reached homes across the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and Malaysia, while remaining rooted in Azamgarh. Recognised under Uttar Pradesh’s One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, Shikha sees this journey not as personal success, but as a shared achievement—bringing the stories of soil, skill, and community from rural India to the world.
Shikha works with 100% natural terracotta and locally sourced black clay, preserving the raw integrity of Nizamabad’s 300-year-old pottery tradition. The clay is carefully filtered, kneaded, and prepared by hand to achieve the right texture and strength — a foundational step that determines the life of every piece.
Using age-old techniques passed down through generations, artisans shape each piece without industrial moulds or shortcuts. The process demands patience, precision, and deep familiarity with the material — allowing every curve and contour to reflect authenticity and heritage.
Once shaped, delicate hand-etching techniques are applied to create traditional motifs unique to Nizamabad Black Pottery. These patterns are not printed or stamped — they are individually carved, making each creation distinct and deeply personal.
By empowering local artisans — especially women — and sustaining rural livelihoods, each creation becomes a symbol of dignity, community, and cultural continuity. At Khwahiish, we see this not just as pottery, but as living heritage shaped for the world.
When you support Khwahiish, you’re not just buying handcrafted products — you’re uplifting communities, preserving heritage, and empowering artisans to dream bigger. Whether you’re a conscious shopper, a creative collaborator, or someone who believes in ethical living, there’s a place for you in our journey. Together, we can keep traditions alive and create a future where craftsmanship thrives with dignity.
